Removable Orthodontic Appliances

Targeted help for small tooth or jaw imperfections, on their own or alongside braces or Invisalign.

In certain cases where a tooth or jaw imperfection is small, removable orthodontic appliances can be used to help with it. They can also be used to help with imperfections in conjunction with braces, Invisalign®, or other orthodontic treatments.

At Brace Central Orthodontics in Brooklyn, our goal is to offer you a unique orthodontic experience that is tailored to your current condition and future goals. Orthodontic appliances, whether used on their own or in combination with other approaches, help us do just that.

Removable orthodontic appliances are used for a variety of different reasons. Most commonly, these appliances are employed to increase arch perimeter, reposition individual teeth, or correct intrusion or extrusion.

Working with Your Orthodontist

Skill, Nuance, and Patient Care

The use of orthodontic appliances as part of a larger orthodontic correction plan requires your orthodontist to be skilled and experienced. Doctor Ingberman has both of these characteristics, as well as the nuance and expertise needed to help with your teeth as efficiently as possible. She has had a high level of patient satisfaction using multiple treatments to help with teeth.

One of the most challenging things about removable orthodontic appliances is the accountability and self-discipline required to achieve results. Since the orthodontic appliance can be taken out, it's up to you to make sure to wear it for the number of hours a day that your orthodontist recommends. This is particularly difficult because the appliances can be uncomfortable. After all, you produce excess saliva, or affect the way you speak. As long as you remain determined and leave the appliances in despite these inconveniences, they should go away or become less noticeable with time.

Part of this responsibility also requires you to keep track of your appliance when you remove it to eat, drink, or brush your teeth. Make sure not to lose it or throw it out by accident.

It is also essential to clean your appliance thoroughly after eating, drinking, or daily. In turn, this helps keep your mouth clean and healthy, minimizing the risk of bacterial growth or infection.

If you're interested in beginning a teeth or jaw treatment plan and are curious if removable orthodontic appliances will be part of that plan, contact Brace Central today. Our trained medical staff will examine your teeth, and come up with a customized, personalized strategy to help with any problems we identify. We look forward to hearing from you!

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best age for a child's first orthodontic evaluation?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first evaluation by age 7. Most kids don't need treatment that early, but catching alignment or bite issues early lets us plan the simplest, shortest treatment later. Our doctors evaluate hundreds of kids a year at this exact stage, the consultation is free and takes about 30 minutes.

Do you treat teens, adults, or both?

Both. We treat kids, teens, and adults with functional appliances, braces, or Invisalign. Adult orthodontics has grown significantly in Brooklyn, and our three orthodontists treat adult cases from simple alignment to full bite correction.

Do you accept insurance and offer payment plans?

Yes on both. We accept most major dental insurance plans that include orthodontic benefits, and our team files the paperwork for you. For the portion not covered by insurance, we offer flexible in-house payment plans spread across the length of treatment, with no interest.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. Your first visit at our Coney Island Avenue office is free, whether you're exploring braces, Invisalign, or just want a professional opinion on whether treatment is necessary.

Which Brooklyn neighborhoods do you serve?

Our office is on Coney Island Avenue and we treat patients from across south Brooklyn, the five boroughs, and the tri-state area: Sheepshead Bay, Brighton Beach, Midwood, Bensonhurst, Borough Park, Marine Park, and Coney Island. We're a short drive or B/Q train ride from most of south Brooklyn.
