Biography
Dr. Polina Ingberman is a top-rated orthodontist with over 25 years of experience. She completed her undergraduate studies at NYU College of Arts & Sciences and earned a full scholarship to the NYU College of Dentistry, where she graduated first in her class in 1998. She went on to complete her orthodontic residency at Columbia University, where she also served as faculty teaching orthodontics.
In addition to founding Brace Central Orthodontics in Brooklyn, Dr. Ingberman currently serves as Director of the Orthodontic Program at Maimonides Medical Center. She is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the Northeastern Society of Orthodontists. Her expertise includes braces, Invisalign®, and clear aligner therapy, with a patient-centered approach that blends technical precision and compassionate care.
Clinical approach
Dr. Ingberman starts every case with imaging. 3D CBCT scans and iTero digital impressions let her look at root positions, jaw alignment, and airway space before deciding on an appliance. That upfront detail is what separates a smooth treatment from one that needs corrections halfway through, whether the problem is mild crowding or a jaw discrepancy that could eventually involve surgery.
She is an Invisalign Platinum Provider with hundreds of aligner cases behind her. She also uses Damon self-ligating braces often, which run on lighter forces and usually mean fewer adjustment visits. With younger patients, she does not rush into Phase I. If early intervention can shift the growth pattern enough to avoid something bigger later, she recommends it. If not, she monitors at no charge until the timing makes sense.
Teaching and leadership
Dr. Ingberman also runs the Orthodontic Program at Maimonides Medical Center, where she trains residents and reviews their treatment plans for complex cases. She held a faculty position at Columbia University during her residency there as well. Working in both settings means she is teaching the same standards she follows in her own practice, and the residents regularly bring newer research into the discussion.
Specialties and treatment options
Dr. Ingberman treats children, teens, and adults. Her treatment options include:
- Invisalign and Invisalign Teen – Platinum Provider with hundreds of aligner cases completed
- Damon self-ligating braces – lighter forces, fewer adjustment visits
- Ceramic and clear braces – less visible fixed brackets
- Lingual braces – placed behind the teeth, not visible at all
- Metal braces – standard option, especially for more complex cases
- Early intervention (Phase I) – jaw growth guidance for children
- Surgical orthodontics coordination – alignment before and after jaw surgery
